Mighty Mentors allows mentors and mentees to search for each other based on grade(s) taught, subject(s) taught, and location. Each mentor or mentee fills out a brief profile form with information about these characteristics. This information is put into a searchable database.
To Become a Mentor:
- Fill out the brief application form. This creates a profile for you, which is then posted in Mighty Mentors. It tells teachers who are searching for a mentor the grade and subjects you teach and other information about you. These teachers can contact you if they think you might be an appropriate match (they will not, however, be given your private email address). You can deactivate your profile at any time if you no longer want teachers to contact you.
- Fax in a teacher certification card, teacher's union card, retirement card, or paycheck stub to Mighty Media at (612) 338-4817. We must receive one of these before your profile can be posted in Mighty Mentors. We require this in order to protect the integrity of our mentoring system for our mentees.
- Search for a mentee. Once your profile is posted in Mighty Mentors, you may receive email from teachers or prospective teachers who think you may be a good match as a mentor. You can also take the initiative by searching for a mentee by grade, subject matter, or state.
